Bruce's Journey

Bruce was five years old when his hind end started weakening. His tail stopped curling, and his gait was off. Something was wrong, he was losing control, and he started stumbling. An MRI revealed that Bruce had a slipped disk and intervertebral disk disease (IVDD).

The fear a pet parent goes through with the uncertainty of not knowing what is happening and what the future holds for your furry family member is disheartening. This is natural because we love our pets; of course, they love us unconditionally.

Bruce has what is known as Pug Myelopathy, a congenital illness similar to Degenerative Myelopathy. He had multiple surgeries and also faced Neurogenic Bladder; Bruce could not urinate on his own. Fortunately, Pug Myelopathy doesn't progress up the spine like Degenerative Myelopathy.

Fortunately, Krysta and Jeff DiRe, owners of Pug & Hound Pet Apothecary, are able to give him a team of highly skilled veterinarians, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, cold laser therapy, and physical therapy! Wow!

Another important part of Bruce's plan is his diet. Nutrition is critical to giving the body the resources it needs in all this treatment. This is why Krysta formulated Bruce's Mix. This complete and balanced meal is perfect for dogs of all ages and sizes. It is formulated to provide essential nutrients that support overall health and well-being. Bruce's Mix consists of whole duck, whole rabbit, cucumber, spinach, blueberries, and strawberries. (Note: Bruce's Mix was formerly called Bruce's Blend.)

Also, Bruce's Mix may help with obesity and diabetes. This refreshing recipe of cooling meats and veggies combined with antioxidant-rich berries perfectly combines meat and low-glycemic plants to suit just about any dog. Pet owners can help regulate their pet's blood sugar levels and potentially aid in weight loss by choosing foods with a low glycemic index. Low glycemic foods for pets may include lean meats and vegetables with low sugar content.
